CDP Federation

CDP Logo

Cedar Centre has had a strong collaborative relationship with both Downs Park & Patcham House schools for many years and this relationship was formalised through a process of federation.  This means that a single Governing Body is responsible for overseeing strategy, performance and financial management at each of the three schools.

Cedar Centre, Downs Park and Patcham House began to examine the possibility of federating in 2010. The desire to federate was mutual, and driven by a shared sense of the importance of partnership working to raise standards and encourage innovation in practice, leading to better outcomes for our young people.

The appropriate statutory consultations were undertaken, and a working party formed of members of the three schools' governing bodies examined different models of federation.

The CDP Federation came into being in September 2011, and to date has succeeded in fostering a sense a shared values around special educational needs practice, access to a greater breadth of expertise for teaching staff to draw upon, and a sense of 'strength in numbers' for member schools in an era of significant changes in the school and special educational needs sectors.

Every CDP Federation School is different, serving its own families, but with shared aims and beliefs:

  • We aim to enable all pupils to develop the skills to lead and successful adults lives.
  • We believe we can achieve more for our pupils, families, and community we serve, by working together.
  • We will measure our effectiveness by the progress our pupils make.
